When Ewan McKay and his Uncle Hugh come to America looking to buy a Brickyard they meet the former owner’s daughter, Laura and her Mother . Both women believe that women are quite capable to run their own affairs. They make a deal and Ewan is put in charge of the Brickyard. Laura volunteers to help Ewan with the bookwork, finding help for the Brickyard and contracts. Ewan is level headed and wants to do things based on his Christian values. When Ewan’s Uncle Hugh and his outspoken Aunt Margaret try to tell Ewan how they want to run things, plans start falling apart. This Historical romance takes place during the post Civil War era and the author’s research was done well. I enjoyed reading this book. I found the characters were believable and entertaining. I was gifted this book by Bethany House Publishers for my honest opinion.
