Librarian Juliana Beauchamp has had her heart broken numerous times. Her brothers lost in the War, her father’s death and then her fiance calling off their wedding. Working at the library, helping at the orphanage, taking care of her mother and sister has become her life. But.. When she meets a Paul Bunyan lookalike, the handsome giant Paul Bon Jean aka lumberjack Richard Christy.. Juliana feels her heart warm a little and thinks just maybe, she could like this man. A story of obligation to family, hard work, faith and romance made Juliana’s story so real and inspiring. I kept thinking if they would only tell each other what they were really thinking they could have prevented so much of their self-inflicted misery. I really liked Richard’s solution of his terrible allergy to Lilacs & Juliana’s love of them. It made for a wonderfully romantic ending.
