” I hope those who read this story will be inspired by the message of overcoming and of finding one’s own path to faith in the Lord!!!”   ~ Carrie Fancett Pagels~

My thoughts:

Suzanne the Marquise’s Granddaughter is a story is filled with history, intrigue, danger and romance. It may be fiction but the characters were put though such extremes that you felt it was real. From France to the hardship of traveling to the New World was so well written I could almost smell and feel what those travelers had to endure. I highly recommend this story set in the 1700’s. With the religious strife that was occurring at that time, the author transported me right into the desperate escape many were driven to.. I really enjoyed this Historical romance.

About the Book

Saving The Marquises Granddaughter  by Carrie Fancett Pagels.  In a land fraught with religious strife, they must break the barriers between status and faith to forge a fresh future in a new world… After her Huguenot father is arrested, aristocrat Suzanne Richelieu escapes Versailles. Handsome German peasant, Johan Rousch, risks his life to bring her to the safety of his family’s farm in the Palatinate duchy, but when Suzanne’s brother and the French army arrive with a warning that they plan to burn the area, she and Johan are forced to flee. With no money or options, both become indentured servants in exchange for safe passage to Philadelphia. Suzanne falls gravely ill aboard ship and marries Johan, only to survive with no memory of the wedding—a reality made worse when Johan spots the “priest” who married them working as a surveyor and later in Quaker cleric garb. Are their wedding vows valid? When Suzanne’s former fiancé arrives in port, planning to abduct her, Johan must save her again—but can he do so before Suzanne is lost to him forever?

Hi Carrie! What a great review of your book! So aspiring to those who have given up and realize that God has never given up on them. I can’t imagine what our ancestors had to go through to get to this country, so reading Saving the Marquise’s Granddaughter would help one to experience this for themselves .

    • Thanks, Jenny! I wondered, too, and when I researched my ancestor, Johan, to learn he left that country only to have his sons fight in our American Revolutionary war, later, I thought how hard that must have been. This book is set in 1742 prior to that time. Blessings!
