About the book: Heiress Abby Hollister’s Papa demands she stop toying with young men’s hearts and marry within a month or be disinherited. After reading an ad for a mail-order bride in untamed Laramie, Wyoming, Abby makes a list of characteristics she expects for her husband and sets off to claim the perfect mate and secure her personal fortune.

Stage coach driver, Zach Tyler likes his exciting job where he outsmarts robbers and Indians and keeps the stage running regardless of weather, break-downs, and ornery passengers. But passenger Abby Hollister proves to be an unusual challenge. He protects her on the journey to Laramie, but in that town women are as scarce as a bird’s nest in a cuckoo clock, and men go crazy when the beauty arrives seeking a husband.

Peach Blossom Rancher by Ada Brownell

I really enjoyed this story and I learned some interesting facts about the mistreatment and misdiagnosis of mental patients in the early 20th century. I liked the little romances that went on throughout the book and the contrast between city and country life. If you like Christian fiction with some great drama.. get this one!

The Forgotten Recipe (Amish Heirloom, #1)

The FORGOTTEN RECIPE by Amy Clipston

I could feel the heartbreaking sadness of Veronica when her fiancee dies in an accidental fall. I liked how she found a way to keep busy enough to get through the days and try to work through her grief. When Jason, Veronica’s fiancee’s best friend wants to express his condolences, he suddenly finds himself drawn to her and can’t tell her of that relationship. Through her bake stand and the forgotten raspberry pie recipe, Veronica starts to heal and they become friends. Then the struggle of a promise and the stress of a secret causes conflict in Jason’s emotions. Jason has to find a way to confess a secret of knowing of her before through her fiancee. The accidental death of Veronica’s fiance and Jason’s friend and Veronica’s solace in her Mother’s “forgotten recipe” made this a wonderful story of family, faith and renewal.  I enjoyed reading this gentle Amish romance.

After losing her fiancé in a tragic accident, Veronica Fisher finds solace in the old recipes stored in her mother’s hope chest—and in a special visitor who comes to her bake stand to purchase her old-fashioned raspberry pies.

Veronica Fisher knows how lucky she is to be marrying her best friend. Seth Lapp is kind, hardworking, and handsome—but most importantly, he loves Veronica.

When an accident on the job steals Seth away from her, a heartbroken Veronica is certain she will never love—or be loved—again. Yet when she discovers a batch of forgotten recipes and opens a bake stand to sell her Mammi’s raspberry pies, Veronica picks up a regular customer  who gives her heart pause.

Jason Huyard was with Seth when he lost his life—a memory that haunts him still. So when he seeks out the grieving fiancée to convey his condolences, the last thing he expects—or wants—is to fall in love. Nonetheless, Jason soon finds himself visiting Veronica’s bake stand every week . . . and it’s for more than the raspberry pies.

Now, as Veronica’s heart thaws, Jason can’t bring himself to tell her he was there when Seth died. Can he ever reveal where he was on the day her life derailed? Or will his secret rob them of the second chance at love they both want?

More Than She Dreamt

Will God give Katie rest as she and the family pray for their enemies?  Can she stand strong in her faith when fear overwhelms her?   ~More Than She Dreamt by Sandy Faye Mauck~

About the Book:
It was more than she dreamt. But as the romance began to bud, she felt the thorns of a heartless beauty rise to tear it apart. Young widow, Katie Jensen, endures patiently under her oppressive uncle in desolate Arizona Territory. She tries to keep her promise to her dead aunt to be a witness and take care of her uncle but when his tirades grow worse, she gathers her two precious little ones and runs. Making their way to an unknown land, they come to the town of White Rock, which is strangely like the place in the dreams Katie has been having. They are welcomed into the cottage of a kindly grandmother who takes in borders. When Danny, the older woman’s grandson, comes home, he finds surprises in store: a crisis, a beautiful young woman, and her adorable children who bring laughter and life into all their weary souls. Katie is filled with hope when an unexpected romance sparks but there is a vindictive raven-haired beauty and an old enemy conspiring to put it out—permanently.

My Thoughts: When Katie married the man who would take her away from high society and give her a wonderful new and exciting life.. she never dreamt that her life was going to become so boring and so hard! From mining camp to mining camp until her husband died in a mine collapse was hard but the misery just seemed to intensify when she moved to Arizona to live with an Aunt and Uncle. Now Katie dreamt of escaping mean, oppressive Uncle Tyler. When Katie receives a letter from her sister with a few dollars enclosed, she takes it and escapes. The train will take them as far as White Rock, California. Her new life will start there and with the help of the Lord and a mysterious benefactor. I found this to be such a wonderful story of faith, love and healing. I really loved these characters and would definitely recommend this as a faith filled, loving family story that will touch your heart.
