More from Dana

I just love Christmas, don’t you? In our area we have a lovely holiday train. It’s an old steam type train which is decked out in lights for festive holiday tours. I was so thrilled that this cover features just such a train. Of course, in the novel the train is the scene of hair raising danger! Maggie, our heroine in this novel, is a cook. She serves up some mouth watering dishes (when she’s not dodging a killer.) I thought perhaps you might enjoy a Mentink holiday family recipe! God bless you as we enter this holiday season!

More Than She Dreamt

Will God give Katie rest as she and the family pray for their enemies?  Can she stand strong in her faith when fear overwhelms her?   ~More Than She Dreamt by Sandy Faye Mauck~

About the Book:
It was more than she dreamt. But as the romance began to bud, she felt the thorns of a heartless beauty rise to tear it apart. Young widow, Katie Jensen, endures patiently under her oppressive uncle in desolate Arizona Territory. She tries to keep her promise to her dead aunt to be a witness and take care of her uncle but when his tirades grow worse, she gathers her two precious little ones and runs. Making their way to an unknown land, they come to the town of White Rock, which is strangely like the place in the dreams Katie has been having. They are welcomed into the cottage of a kindly grandmother who takes in borders. When Danny, the older woman’s grandson, comes home, he finds surprises in store: a crisis, a beautiful young woman, and her adorable children who bring laughter and life into all their weary souls. Katie is filled with hope when an unexpected romance sparks but there is a vindictive raven-haired beauty and an old enemy conspiring to put it out—permanently.

My Thoughts: When Katie married the man who would take her away from high society and give her a wonderful new and exciting life.. she never dreamt that her life was going to become so boring and so hard! From mining camp to mining camp until her husband died in a mine collapse was hard but the misery just seemed to intensify when she moved to Arizona to live with an Aunt and Uncle. Now Katie dreamt of escaping mean, oppressive Uncle Tyler. When Katie receives a letter from her sister with a few dollars enclosed, she takes it and escapes. The train will take them as far as White Rock, California. Her new life will start there and with the help of the Lord and a mysterious benefactor. I found this to be such a wonderful story of faith, love and healing. I really loved these characters and would definitely recommend this as a faith filled, loving family story that will touch your heart.

About the author: Sandy Faye Mauck writes Historical Romance in the light of the gospel and with the heart of her Savior. Slip into a comfy chair with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate and travel back to the first years after the turn of the century.
Enjoy faithful Christian characters who have come through a spiritual wilderness into a place of hope. Stories of charming romance sprinkled with humor and topped with redemption. And be sure not to put the cup too close to the edge of the table because there are enemies lurking about. Sandy lives in her own happily-ever-after with her Bible doctrine writer husband in the west they love. They have five children and nine grandchildren. She enjoys crocheting (a different kind of yarn) and is also a professional artist.

Giveaway: To celebrate her tour, Sandy is giving away a charming keepsake box filled with some Rose Arbor themed prizes.

Surrender to Peace by Rose McCauley

When her fiancé cancels the wedding, Joy Worth decides to go to Puerto Rico on a trip that was suppose to be her honeymoon trip. When she meets Park Ranger Benigno Arroyo, her vacation from the hurt, turns into a sweet romance. I would recommend this book, I found it to be a nice, clean romance. The wonderful descriptions of Puerto Rico in the historical and cultural information through out the story made for a story you could picture and wish you were there!
I received this book through TBCN in exchange for an honest review.

Christmas Star Sapphire by Hallee Bridgeman

Will their love succumb to the rising tide caused by their differences in lifestyles, or will raging seas calm and allow them to sail off into the sunset?

Madeline Viscolli is studying to take over her families businesses.. She has her head into her studies and is well grounded in her faith. Joe Westcott is a teacher and the team leader for a campus ministry. Joe had a troubled childhood and throws himself into his ministry to escape his memories. This is an interesting story of faith, family, redemption and love. I liked how faith was a big part of their story and how the characters struggled through to a deeper understanding of how the past doesn’t have to shape your future. I enjoyed this story of how wealth, unforgiveness and the struggle of letting go of your past affects your daily walk. I was gifted a copy from The Book Club Network for my honest opinion.

Do You Believe In Santa by Sierra Donovan

What a fun story. Mandy saw Santa and nothing can change what she believes. Working at a year round Christmas store, she gets to share her experience often. Until, a handsome fellow walks in and the she wants a chance to get to know him without her “Christmas Lady” story swaying his opinion of her! I really liked this sweet romance and the fun story of seeing Santa. This would make a fun family Christmas movie.. I was gifted a copy by the author through NetGalley and I would recommend it as a wonderful Christmas clean romance to enjoy during the holidays.

Blog Hop for Lilacs for Juliana!!! Kindle Fire Giveaway!!! Book giveaway!!!

Lilacs for Juliana blog hop

Librarian Juliana Beauchamp has had her heart broken numerous times. Her brothers lost in the War, her father’s death and then her fiance calling off their wedding. Working at the library, helping at the orphanage, taking care of her mother and sister has become her life. But.. When she meets a Paul Bunyan lookalike, the handsome giant Paul Bon Jean aka lumberjack Richard Christy.. Juliana feels her heart warm a little and thinks just maybe, she could like this man. A story of obligation to family, hard work, faith and romance made Juliana’s story so real and inspiring. I kept thinking if they would only tell each other what they were really thinking they could have prevented so much of their self-inflicted misery. I really liked Richard’s solution of his terrible allergy to Lilacs & Juliana’s love of them. It made for a wonderfully romantic ending.

A Pinch of Promise by Elizabeth Maddrey

I liked how Ben cared enough to not give up on Rebecca and to dig to uncover the truth about Rebecca when she obviously had something she was desperately trying to hide. This was a story about friendships, faith and forgiveness. I enjoyed reading this Christian romance where the characters were caring, thoughtful and so giving . I gained some insight into the needs of missions, homeless shelters and of those giving people who work there or volunteer. An encouraging, thoughtful story of how some of today’s young people are reaching out to those less fortunate.. And a beautifully done romance too!
Thanks to the author and The Book Club Network ( for a gifted copy.. I really enjoyed reading this book…

Chivalrous by Dina L. Sleiman

Like the back page states.. Tournaments, intrigue, and battles–along with twists and turns aplenty–await these two as they struggle to find love, identity, and their true destinies. That is exactly what I found in the pages of this book. I was pulled in from the first and the characters were wonderful! Knights, Kings, strong women, romance and a villain.. I couldn’t ask for anything more! Action-packed adventures with Knights jousting, treachery in the castle and the Duke murdered! I can’t wait for the next book in this series because this series is definitely one of my 2015 favorites!
I was gifted a copy from Bethany House/Baker Publishing Group for my opinion which I have given…

A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer

A teacher on the run. A bounty hunter in pursuit. Can two enemies learn to trust each other before they both lose what they hold most dear?

When Sullivan’s Academy for Exceptional Youths closes, Charlotte Atherton, the former headmistress will do anything to keep her special charges safe. Especially the orphaned girl entrusted to her care. Charlotte calmly takes on the handsome bounty hunter who finds them. When she shows him proof of her guardianship of the girl he has hired on to retrieve he finds this lovely lady grabbing a piece of his heart. Stone Hammond now vows to protect and keep Charlotte and the children safe. There was the hunt for Miss Atherton and the children, kidnapping, action with the dime novel real life characters to the rescue and romance. A nice pace, a fun story, interesting characters with a thread of faith throughout. I’d recommend this, it was a fun, clean western romance. This story kept you guessing what adventure was coming next.
Thank you Bethany House publishers and Net Galley for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review with my honest opinion.

Paper Hearts by Courtney Walsh

The paper hearts with the private thoughts of a couple make this story so special! What a heart grabbing romantic story! This author did a wonderful job with the hard topic in this book. The hurt, the loss, a new life and starting over. Good, bad, heartbreak, twists and surprises, redemption and romance. This book covers it all and I thought it was a beautiful story of love!
If you like a good heart grabber.. You will like this one!
