About the book:

Jilted by her fiancé, Amanda Pearson gives up on romance and turns to her Quaker faith for reassurance. She becomes determined to follow the Rev. and Mrs. Spalding into the western wilderness to minister to the Nez Percé Indians.

But a three-thousand-mile journey in 1837 is fraught with danger for anyone, and soon Amanda finds herself recovering from near death in a trapper’s cabin. His Indian wife becomes Amanda’s first convert–and friend. But the trapper and his intriguing half-Indian friend want nothing to do with Christians.

Buck McFadden has received nothing but pain from white men who claim Christ as their lord. He wants only to be left to his solitary life, but he can’t seem to walk away from Amanda.

Amanda fears she’ll never reach the mission in the Lapwai Valley. This journey has become life-changing for her–and those she meets–and the choices she must make are almost unbearable.

December finds them in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when a sudden snowstorm traps them, obscuring the trail.

Cynthia Cooper is traveling with her mother and the man she has promised to marry. But as Christmas is upon them and they are hunkered down in a small cabin, she is forced to reevaluate her reasons for planning to marry fellow-traveler Walter Prentice. The Blessing by Wanda E Brunstetter

The Blessing (The Amish Cooking Class #2)

Heidi’s cooking classes are the focus point of the story. People from different walks of life come together for a class that gives them much more that learning to cook some Amish dishes. I enjoyed how each person becomes a friend and how Heidi is blessed through blessing others! Wonderful characters, a truly feel good book, and, I’m looking forward to trying the interesting Amish dishes that were included in the book.

I was gifted a copy and my review is voluntary…

About the Book: Return to the Troyer farm where, despite stressful changes occurring in their lives, Joel and Heidi once again open their Ohio home up to those seeking to learn about Amish cooking. This time a teenager helping her divorced dad cook for the family, a caterer needing new recipes, a food critic, a hunter looking to impress his buddies, a wife given the class as an unwanted gift, and a mailman lured in by the aroma of good cooking gather around Heidi s table. More than good food is exchanged, though, as friendships form, a romance blossoms, and hearts are healed.”

Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends Harvest Cookbook

Wanda E. Brunstetter’s Amish Friends Harvest Cookbook

When I received this cookbook I just sat and read it like a book! The pages are beautifully done. There are a variety of pictures of the  garden, the Amish life, produce and some of the recipe items that look so delicious  I wanted to head right into the kitchen and get started cooking! This book is a compilation of Amish friends recipes and many gardening ideas that I certainly will be trying. There are some scripture verses that mark the next recipe section that are on pages that are just lovely and I found myself flipping through the pages just to see how the next section was introduced.  I did not know there were so many ways to use Dandelions! There are recipes for main dishes, soups & salads, and the desserts, oh my!  I also found advise for planting, harvesting, fertilizer, bug repellent and home remedies. This book is spiral-bound so it will lay flat or fold around so your place is on top.  Wanda E Brunstetter’s,  Amish Friends Harvest Cookbook is beautifully done and this is easily one of my favorite cookbooks.

The Decision by Wanda E.Brunstetter

The Decision was a story that pulled at the heart strings. I was drawn into the Schrock families life and followed Elaine in the ups and downs of becoming a caretaker of her Grandmother. Elaine decides she alone is responsible for taking care of her Grandmother who is diagnosed with dementia and diabetes. Elaine has made the decision that she will not allow Jonah Miller, who has courted her for a year to help her and rejects his marriage proposal. His help would have helped her through but she had made her decision. I enjoyed reading about how the communities family life and the decisions they made connected them. I’d recommend this to all who enjoy Amish books.
I was gifted a copy by Barbour Publishing for my honest opinion which I have given.
